The Challenges:

  1. Multi-Region Corporate: Operating in diverse regions posed a challenge in maintaining uniform data protection standards.
  2. Local Language Support for DLP: Ensuring DLP measures were accessible and effective in all regions with varying language preferences.
  3. Incident Management from Centralized Locations: Coordinating incident responses across different regions and consolidating incident reporting for streamlined management.
  4. Multiple Email Domains and Multiple Regions: Managing diverse email domains across regions while maintaining consistent security protocols.
  5. Multiple Key Stakeholders for Region Wise Policies Creation: Coordinating with various stakeholders in different regions for policy development.
  6. Alerts & User Justification in Local Language: Ensuring alerts and user interactions were presented in the preferred language of each region.

The proposed solution, the GTB Protection that Workstm SaaS suite, comprised the following components:

  1. Data Classification: Enabling the client to categorize and label data based on content and severity.
  2. Device Control: Restricting unauthorized access to USB devices and mobile phones.
  3. DLP: Employing built-in templates, custom keywords, and Data fingerprinting technology to prevent data loss.
  4. Discovery: Facilitating data discovery on endpoints, network shares, databases, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive, with automated actions for file management.
  5. Email Inspectors: Monitoring the entire organizational email traffic, automatically quarantining emails for review by the incident management team based on content and context-aware policies.

Configuration:

The solution involved the deployment of four child consoles across different regions, supported by one master console in India for incident management and helpdesk operations. All events and incidents were synchronized in real-time. Four Email inspectors were set up in High Availability (HA) mode across various AWS regions. In the event of a failure, emails were seamlessly rerouted to secondary inspectors. AWS Network Load Balancer (NLB) ensured load balancing for two additional inspectors, guaranteeing business continuity.

Each GTB Inspector boasted a processing rate of 100 GB per second, ensuring scalability and efficient email processing. The solution also provides the detection of data within images.

  1. Client Satisfaction: The implementation resulted in heightened client satisfaction, demonstrating the effectiveness of the solution.
  2. Client Requirement Fulfillment: The solution successfully met the client’s stringent requirements, aligning with industry-specific regulations.
  3. Client Recommendations: The client not only referred the solution to peers within their industry but also recommended it as a best practice for data protection in their sector.

This case study exemplifies how the GTB Data Protection that Workstm SaaS suite successfully addressed the complex data protection challenges faced by the leading Global Chemical Company, establishing a robust framework for safeguarding sensitive information across multiple regions.
